Improving healthcare through simulation in the ‘City of 100 Spires’

Members of the Adam,Rouilly team were delighted to join hundreds of professionals from around the world for the Society for Simulation in Europe (SESAM) annual conference in Prague, where they united in the common goal of improving healthcare through simulation.

More than 1,300 delegates from 63 countries came together to share knowledge, best practices, innovation, and networking.

The busy three-day event boasted almost 400 presentations and 81 workshops, over 200 hours of scientific content, renowned speakers, and a sold-out hands-on exhibition, all designed to support the main conference themes of Debriefing, Team Education, Diversity, Technology and Innovation, and Sustainability.

Agenda items included interesting sessions on topics such as Addressing Emerging Healthcare Issues, Nurturing the Future of Simulation Research, Addressing the Empathy Challenge Through Point of View Simulation and Challenges of Peer Debriefing.

It was a great networking and learning opportunity for Adam,Rouilly team members; Director of Sales & Marketing, Tariq Shahab, Export Sales Jose Palacios, Product Developer Daniel Mogentale, and Graphic and Content Creator Zachary Weitz.

A valuable networking and learning experience

Tariq said: “This was one of the busiest SESAM conferences I have attended, with a very good mix of simulation customers from around the world and several distribution partners, many of whom we already work with.

“It was a valuable experience for us all to see first-hand how the simulation business is developing and, over the three days, we had the opportunity to evaluate ways in which we can extend our product range, especially reviewing new products which could complement Adam,Rouilly’s own range of part task trainers in the future.

“We also met suppliers from Europe whose latest offerings might help us improve our products – and our long–term carbon footprint reduction aims.”

With a 23 per cent increase in attendance, it was also good to see the events industry returning to healthier, pre-pandemic levels.

“Our overall impression is that the post-pandemic healthcare market is gaining momentum,” Tariq added. “The sector experienced many challenges during Covid, particularly in terms of demand and supply trends. However, this period provided a valuable opportunity to innovate and expand. We have developed new products and successfully reached additional markets.

“We are particularly excited about the advances in simulation-based training, as well as the software and VR technologies that will enhance our product offerings. These cutting-edge developments will be reflected in our upcoming products, ensuring we continue to lead in providing state-of-the-art solutions.”

Conference delegates were able to visit our purpose-built show booth and view a selection of Adam,Rouilly simulation models, all of which are designed and manufactured at our purpose-built facility in Sittingbourne, Kent.

The models exhibited had been carefully-chosen to reflect the show themes:

Team Education: The AR90 Corman® – Adult Nasogastric/Nasojejunal Feeding Trainer is perfect for multi-disciplinary teams and group training sessions.

Diversity: We demonstrated a selection of items that are available in light and dark skin tones, to reflect our commitment to developing more diverse ranges. These included AR251-B Injection, Venepuncture, Cannulation & Infusion Arm, AR402-B Digital Ear Examination Trainer and AR28-B Glucohand® – Digital Glucometer Simulator.

Debriefing: The AR70 Digital Cricoid Pressure Trainer has a timer/feedback mode to record how long the correct cricoid pressure was held for during training using the model. After the procedure, it presents an easy-to-understand graph, allowing for instant debriefing and discussion.

Technology and Innovation: AR28 Digital Glucometer Simulator, which also echoed the conference theme of Sustainability. The model was designed with reusable glucose test strips which greatly reduce unnecessary waste during teaching, where the electronic scenario is controlled by the tutor to set the hypo/hyper readings.

Products were demonstrated to distributors and end users from around the world, including Czechia, Slovakia, Latvia, Poland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Hungary, France, Lithuania, Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland, USA, Mexico, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Thailand and North Africa. This included those who were already familiar with Adam,Rouilly products and others we hope to start working with in the future.

This year’s event also marked the 30th anniversary of SESAM, and we’re now looking forward to the 2025 conference in Valencia.

That’s a wrap!…. Check out all the action on the Adam,Rouilly stand from the amazing SESAM 2024 conference in Prague.
