- Teaching proper injection techniques and how to avoid nerves and veins
- Anatomical teaching (right hand side):
- bones, ilium crista, greater trochannter, m. gluteus medius, nerves and veins
- Students can transfer what they have learned about the position of nerves, veins etc. to the left hand side on which intra-muscular injections can be practiced
- The gluteus medius, nerves, veins, ilium crista, and greater trochanter can be palpated to confirm the correct injection points
- Indicator light illuminates when Shibusanbu method (Upper Outer quadrant of Buttocks) has been injected into correctly
Practice of Shibusanbu (Upper Outer quadrant of Buttocks) method:
- The pelvis is built-in
- Trainees can practice identifying the injection site by palpation of the iliac crest and greater trochanter
- The green light turns on when a needle is inserted into a safe region
- The red light turns on and a warning buzzer sounds when the injection site is incorrect or the insertion is too deep, even at a safe point
