Features

The AirSim® Difficult Airway is designed for advanced-stage training, providing scalable airway difficulty through six independently adjustable features. Each feature can be activated in isolation or combined to create multi-factorial difficult airway scenarios, enabling facilitators to tailor sessions to specific learning objectives, assessment requirements, and cohort experience levels.

Integrated visual indicators of stomach inflation and lung expansion provide immediate feedback to reinforce correct ventilation technique. Tongue oedema can be introduced via the inflatable tongue bulb for an additional layer of difficulty. Delivered ready to use in a durable carry case, with set-up in under 5 minutes.

Difficult Airway Features

1. Laryngospasm — adjustable from normal to complete airway obstruction, with mechanical reversal on successful user action.
2. Displaced Larynx — displaces the larynx anteriorly to increase visualisation difficulty; adjustable to various levels.
3. Tongue Oedema — inflatable tongue bulb simulates progressive degrees of tongue angioedema.
4. Trismus — grossly restricts mouth opening to challenge insertion of airway devices.
5. Adjustable Mandible — multiple variants simulating overbite, underbite, and malocclusion.
6. Restricted Neck Mobility — simulates cervical arthropathy through range-of-motion restriction.
