Features

The Paediatric Lumbar Puncture Simulator represents a 10–12 month old infant positioned in the left lateral decubitus position, with neck and knees flexed to replicate the foetal position required for lumbar puncture procedures. The iliac crest and spine are palpable, enabling learners to identify the correct puncture site before performing the procedure.

Lumbar puncture may be performed at the L3–L4, L4–L5, or L5–S1 interspaces. As the needle advances, a small ‘give’ sensation confirms correct needle depth, and simulated CSF flows when the needle reaches the proper space — providing immediate procedural feedback. The removable spine, spinal canal, and replaceable skin pad allow the simulator to be easily maintained for repeated training use. The simulator arrives mounted to a sturdy board for stability during practice.
