Our Child Nursing Dolls are an excellent option for the childcare elements of T Level courses as they facilitate the teaching of a wide range of paediatric nursing procedures.

The lifelike model of a three-year-old child is made from a special plastic with durable joint mechanisms for natural movement.

It allows for the learning of general and specific skills including dressing and undressing, daily body care, positioning, enema, catheterisation and feeding, injections and infusions, dressing and removal of sutures, PEG, stoma and tracheostomy care and supra-pubic puncture of bladder, including removal and care.

Features include:

  • Interchangeable abdominal wall allowing child to be male or female
  • Female abdominal wall with appendectomy scar
  • Male abdominal wall hernia operation scar
  • Abdominal walls equipped with stoma and openings for PEG and supra-pubic bladder puncture

  • Upper arms and thighs provided with injection pads

The Child Nursing Doll is available in light, dark and Asian.

3. Simulation Suits – Age Simulation

The Age Simulation Suit is a unique wearable empathy kit which simulates the changes that take place in the bones, joints, sight and hearing, as a result of the ageing process.

This is an ideal simulator for teaching care of the elderly. The wearer of the simulation suit will experience restricted movement, as well as reduced vision and hearing.

Features include:

  • Elbow and knee joint restrictors to simulate movement difficulties
  • Gloves and finger restrictors reducing sense of touch and the ability to grasp
  • Wrist and ankle weights to simulate weakened muscular power
  • Back brace to replicate stooped posture specific to ageing
  • Ear-plugs which block high frequency sounds simulating age-related hearing loss
  • Goggles to simulate loss of peripheral vision and change in visual function due to cataracts
  • Folding walking stick to demonstrate how a person with reduced mobility supports themselves

The Age Simulation Suit kit includes several sets of gloves and ear plugs and comes in a handy storage bag for easy transportation and deployment.

4. Vital Signs – Blood Pressure Simulator

We offer a range of simulators for the demonstration and practise of blood pressure measurement techniques and anatomical study. Blood pressure checking is an essential skill across all areas of healthcare.

It is a core T Level skill and effective teaching can help resolve common uncertainties students have when learning about blood pressure management.

The realistic Blood Pressure Simulator provides an excellent means to practise listening to, and distinguishing, blood pressure sounds – it is possible to audibly discern the five Korotkoff phases using the device.

Features include:

  • Any combination of systolic and diastolic pressures can be pre-set easily into the control unit
  • The instructor can control the pulse rate and volume level
  • Pressures activated at release valve by student
  • Real blood pressure sounds reproduced from recordings
  • Pressures read directly from sphygmomanometer
  • Manual calibration button allowing the unit to be used with any type of sphygmomanometer other than the one provided

5. Vital Signs – Digital Glucometer Simulator

This helps students learn about blood glucose monitoring, diabetes management and anatomical study, which is another core element of the T Levels curriculum.

We developed the GlucoHand® – Glucometer Simulator in collaboration with Nina Godson, Assistant Professor and Lead for Clinical Skills at Coventry University.

It was created in recognition of the rising prevalence of diabetes, which affects some 415 million people globally.

The easy-to-use simulator aids the understanding and teaching of blood sampling and the interpretation of glucose level data and its implications in treatment planning.

Features include:

  • Patient communication
  • Can be pre-set to low, normal, high or randomised readings
  • A realistic adult hand, cast from life, with two refillable finger blood pads
  • Aseptic technique around blood handling
  • Blood samples can be drawn and measured using the reusable blood glucose test strips
  • 20 reusable simulated blood glucose test strips included
  • Blood refill kit concentrate to make 100ml of artificial blood
  • Water based lubricant.

The GlucoHand® is available in light and dark skin tones.

6. Clinical Skills Simulators – Injection, Venepuncture, Cannulation & Infusion Arm

Cast from life, our realistic Injection, Venepuncture, Cannulation & Infusion Arm has pronounced veins in the antecubital fossa region of the forearm and the back of the hand.

The skin is moulded from a specially selected grade of silicone for improved feel, durability and palpitation of the veins. It has a flexible wrist for added realism.

It’s easy to set up and the closed blood system means it is also easy to clean and can be used many times before a replacement skin is required.

The injection arm is an excellent aid for hands-on learning of techniques including administering IV injections and infusions, intravenous cannulation, application of dressings and withdrawal of blood using syringe or vacutainer.

Features include:

  • A realistic sensation when the skin and vein are penetrated
  • A realistic ‘flashback’ of artificial blood confirms correct needle location in the vein
  • Continuous vein system, and innovative two bottle sealed blood assembly, greatly reducing the risk of leakage
  • Working veins, which can be identified from the ‘blind veins’ by palpation, made from a material with self-sealing characteristics that can be penetrated many times
  • Automatic pressure relief valve
  • Replacement skins and veins are simple to fit

The arm is available in light and dark.

7. Anatomical Models – Pelvis with Uterus in the Ninth Month of Pregnancy

We offer a wide selection of SOMSO® anatomical models including all body systems including embryonic development and birth models to enhance learning experiences in antenatal and midwifery skills.

This lifelike SOMSO® model shows the female pelvis and uterus with the foetus in the ninth month of pregnancy.

It’s made from the incredibly durable and recyclable SOMSO-PLAST® and is ideal for demonstrating the final stages of pregnancy.

Features include:

  • Natural size
  • Right half of the female pelvis in median section
  • Removable foetus

The Pelvis with Uterus Model is available in light and dark.
